This flag was found in storage at a Newton school. Flags with 48 stars were used from 1912 to 1959. The exact years of use in Newton schools are unknown.

Texas and USA Quilts made by the 4th grade classes of Bleakwood Elementary were donated by Mrs. Jean Jones. These quilts were made by her 4th grade classes in 1981 and 1982 as part of their studies of Texas history and all of the states in the USA. Thank you Ms. Jones for these treasures. (May 2018)
